New Moov fitness tracking device acts as personal trainer

Fitness tracking device Moov has made its market debut, offering data capture as well as acting as a personal trainer to users.

Moov’s internal hardware combines magnets and sensors for angles and gravity to capture a 3-D motion portrait of the wearer. The device uses the data it captures to tell the wearer how to refine their technique in order to get a better performance.

So far the product can be used for running, swimming, weight training and cardio kickboxing. Other activities including cycling and use in yoga will soon be available.

Moov has been developed by Meng Li and former Apple engineer Nikola Hu who created the device after decided that most other fitness tracking devices weren’t sufficiently helpful or motivating.

The device can be worn around the wrist, tied to a shoe or attached to sports equipment depending on the discipline and is also waterproof for use when swimming.
